HVCC participates in annual Faith Organization Community Block Party

The college participated in the Macedonia Baptist Church of Albany’s annual Community Block Party on Saturday. Sept. 10.

The event brought over 200 church members and community residents together to share information on educational opportunities, mental health awareness, affordable housing, and day care services. Participants were also encouraged to bring winter clothing for families with the greatest need.

The party was very well attended, according to Kelly Bunkley, assistant to vice president for Student Affairs. Bunkley represented the college at an information table, providing information on our academic programs, admissions information and student support services. Bunkley said these community events are very important and it supports the college’s mission of addressing the diverse needs of local and global communities.

Participation in the event is part of the Student Affairs’ ongoing Community Outreach and Recruiting Project.
