Hello again colleagues,
Thank you again to all of those who have contributed to this project so far! We are starting to get a great collection of one-on-ones, people in their virtual teaching environments, and people interacting over Zoom! Some of them have a nice personal touch and are just what we are looking for.
Below is a quick example of the type of video and stills we have still yet to capture. We want students and faculty in their environment and interacting with each other, BUT we’d like a few more from outside of the Zoom work space. We have plenty of awesome footage of Zoom meetings and people saying “hi” to one another, but now to round it off, it would be great to get phone camera footage of yourself, or your students in their own environment outside of the laptop screen. This will help make the video a well rounded and dynamic piece. PLUS, it allows you to be a little more yourself! So grab your camera and give us a selfie, an action shot, or just a smile in your “office” to help brighten everyone’s day!
The deadline is extended to Friday, April 17 to give folks even more time to contribute.
We are also in need of more student interaction and students in their learning environment. So if you have any suggestions of who we can reach out to, please email me at j.yost@hvcc.edu.
Please don’t forget the model release forms (linked to below)!
Thank you again for your help and contribution to this project! It’s been wonderful to see our community come together!

Here is the original call for submissions:
I hope this finds you healthy and safe! I am reaching out to see if the campus community can assist with a video project we are putting together to thank our hard working students, faculty and staff who are making the transition to online teaching and learning.
I’m hoping to collect video footage of your activities from home as you continue to connect and teach. This would be you, or a person you are at home with, using your phones and/or screen captures to send us action shots of remote instruction, or smiles, virtual high fives, etc.
We know this is a difficult time for faculty, staff and students, and we want to assure our college community we can do this together! The final video will feature a voice over message from President Roger Ramsammy while we show footage of you and your students or teams, tackling the challenge of online or remote learning and making it work!
I am including a link (below) to a OneDrive folder where you can upload the footage directly to me at home, so I can start to craft the final piece. This link will also have examples of what footage we are trying to get so it’s a good resource when planning things out. If and when possible, please send horizontal/landscape footage at an HD resolution, (1920×1080) and in .mp4 or .mov file format. For most phones and screen grabs this is pretty standard.
I am also including a link to a model release form to send your students who participate. We need to make sure they virtually download and sign this as we need permission to use their likeness in the piece! Here is how it works:
- Download the form (save it to their device) from https://www.hvcc.edu/graphics/modelreleaseform.pdf
- Fill it in
- Save it again
- Send it to you as an attachment

If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions on how to make this even better, you can email me at j.yost@hvcc.edu.
Thank you again for all the hard work and helping us get the word out about how awesome our HVCC community is!
