The Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness Committee met on April 21. The meeting minutes are as follows:
Dr. Margaret Geehan opened the meeting at 1 p.m. The meeting began with a Nuventive Update, during which Dennis W. indicated that everything in Nuventive is going well and that Natalie has been introducing the Institutional Effectiveness Office to new methods of formatting, etc. in Nuventive that can be shared with the rest of the college.
Committee members then reviewed the Covid-19 memo from the SUNY Provost’s Office. Discussion centered on determining how the college’s departments and units should determine what is an “essential” activity for their area during this time. Margaret asked the members, “What do you consider essential for your area to the college at this time?”
Kathy suggested that the college’s Annual Report to SUNY can be utilized for this purpose. The coronavirus memo from SUNY notes what Middle States expects. We are to follow this for each area and department.
Margaret announced that there will be no Student Satisfaction survey this year, as directed by SUNY. Gen Ed and ISLO status and processes were also discussed. The Gen Ed grading documents will be sent out to faculty teaching Gen Ed courses as usual in the early part of May.
Dennis K. shared that Communications & Marketinmg is revising the creative marketing strategy in response to the virus. The strategies that are typically used can’t be expected to work in the same way right now.
The meeting adjourned slightly early, at 1:40 p.m., due to technical issues with Zoom.
Subsequent meetings: May 5, May 19
