Structural Inequities: A Review
The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is offering a five-week workshop unpacking structural inequities within our country. The purpose of this workshop is for participants to review literature and documentaries that will shed light on the experiences of marginalized people.
The class will be facilitated through discussions based on personal experiences and insight gained from the assignments. We will focus on disparities in policies (laws), housing, education, employment and health care. At the end of each session, participants will gain insights into the dominant narrative that is pervasive and how that narrative can be interrupted.
The workshop will be conducted through Zoom and the date and time for each session is below. Please contact Zoë O’Brey to register: z.obrey@hvcc.edu.
We ask that each participant watch the documentary “13th” at the link below prior to the first class. Additional resources will be provided to those who register.
