The Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness Committee met on June 2, 2020, at 1 p.m. The meeting minutes follow.
Dr. Margaret Geehan opened the meeting at 1 p.m. The meeting began with a Middle States update during which Joe Stenard, Dr. Geehan’s co-chair of the self-study process and new member of the committee, introduced himself to the group. Dr. Geehan went over the timeline for the next year or so of the process in preparation for the 2023 Middle States site visit, including the creation of the Working Groups, which is underway and will be as complete as possible by the end of this summer. In fall 2020, the co-chairs will attend the Middle States Self-Study Design Institute (likely online) and plan to draft the self-study design between now and then, which will be submitted to Middle States for approval in February 2021.
An update was provided regarding the Institutional Student Learning Outcomes as well. The majority of departments have mapped the ISLOs to their programs and Meg Mann is integrating the information into Nuventive.
The following core indicators, with updated data, were then reviewed and discussed: Employee Satisfaction and Tuition and Fees. For Core Indicator 1.7 Employee Satisfaction Survey presents more general items from the college’s annual Employee Satisfaction Survey. In general, there has been a positive trend in employee satisfaction from previous years. Core Indicator 5.2 Tuition and Fees was also discussed. For this core indicator, Hudson Valley’s tuition and fees are compared to those of the other regional community colleges to make sure the college is remaining competitive. Hudson Valley’s fees remain notably higher than the other colleges, although it was noted that SUNY Adirondack is catching up to our institution’s rates.
The meeting adjourned at 2 p.m. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 23 on Zoom.
