More updates to guide highlighting library sources examining racism

The most recent updates to the library’s guide to resources examining racism and structural inequities include the first of the trilogy of graphic novels highlighting U.S. Rep. John Lewis’s leadership in civil rights activism, particularly his key roles in organizing the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom and as a peaceful protester viciously attacked by law enforcement in Selma, Alabama.

The Honorable Mr. Lewis passed away on Saturday, July 18 and was nationally eulogized for his courage, leadership and lifelong activism as an antiracist. The graphic novel series from the Dwight Marvin Library collection will be available for loan when the library reopens. Other works highlighted in this week’s update are available as ebooks or streaming video.

Also highlighted this week is the college’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion’s collection of podcasts, workshop announcements, and related resources. This is a permanent addition to the guide.

The guide will continue to be updated weekly during the summer semester, highlighting materials that are available online while the library remains closed.  Suggestions are always welcome and may be sent to Brenda Hazard.
