Sponsoring an eligible student to join PTK

Phi Theta Kappa is the official honor society for two-year colleges, as recognized by the American Association of Community Colleges. It was established in 1918, and has a presence on almost 1,300 community college campuses in 11 nations. The mission of PTK is to recognize the academic achievement of college students and provide opportunities for its members to grow as scholars and leaders.

The Alpha Xi Sigma Chapter of PTK at Hudson Valley Community College actively fosters the organization’s four hallmarks: scholarship, service, fellowship and leadership. In the past year, PTK has initiated several projects connected to those hallmarks. They worked with our new neighbors from Egypt, Pakistan, Sudan, Turkey, and other countries to improve their conversational English and social skills while practicing a new language. Members and advisors also attended regional conferences where they connected with other New York chapters, developed leadership skills, and learned about scholarship opportunities.

Students eligible for PTK membership were recently sent invitations to join. There is a one-time membership fee that comes with access to PTK benefits for life. Member benefits include access to $46 million in transfer scholarships, awards specifically for career-bound students, career training courses, leadership training courses, and so much more!

If you are interested in sponsoring an eligible student and being a part of this tremendous opportunity, please reach out to chapter advisors Jaya Dasgupta and Renay Williams or email ptk@hvcc.edu.
