Rensselaer County Health Department conducts “Narcan Blitz” during Public Health Week

During Public Health Week observed the first week of April, the Rensselaer County Health Department will offer drive-thru training sessions about Narcan* and how to use it on Tuesday, April 4.

“We want to train and distribute as much Narcan to our residents as possible. The “Narcan Blitz” on April 4 will get the word out. Our goal is to train 700 residents in one day,” said Maryfran Wachunas, Rensselaer County Public Health Director.

In addition, the Health Department plans to visit every municipality in Rensselaer County to provide education and easier access to Narcan. The first visit will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 4 at the Rensselaer Ambulance Service, 901 Third St., Rensselaer.

The event will include a panel discussion with local leaders and Narcan training. Participants will receive a free Narcan kit.
