We hope you can again add your best wishes to our graduating students through personal video messages of congratulations and support!
In past years, we’ve had a huge, positive response to this call, and the students have appreciated your messages of congratulations.
Here’s how you can participate. Record on your mobile device a brief congratulatory message. You drag and drop a video file into the Commencement Greetings (2024) folder found here.
The more who participate, the better. We are especially interested in collecting messages from faculty members, department chairs and academic support staff who work directly with students. This year, we hope to show these congratulatory messages during the three commencement ceremonies.
Here are some simple guidelines to follow:
- Shoot in a vertical format! This is essential for visual consistency.
- Be positive!
- Be brief (15 seconds should be the maximum length of your message)
- Be creative!
- Consider your lighting and your background. Lighting from the front works best.
- Feel free to say who you are and what program/office you represent. You don’t have to if you prefer not to.
- Don’t focus on individual students by name, but feel free to focus on students from your department or program
Some sample messages:
- I’m (Name) from the (Department) and I want to congratulate the graduating class from our program. You all worked hard to reach this goal and I’m proud of you. Good luck, graduates!
- To the 2023 graduates of the (Department), good luck as you continue your education or move into a career. Stop back and see us sometime and let us know how you’re doing!
- Hello, 2023 Graduates! Congratulations on completing your studies at Hudson Valley and I know you’ll do great things in the future.

Please take the time to record a message that will tell our graduates that we wish them well!
