Greetings colleagues,
As you may be aware, the college recently completed its first SUNY-mandated Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility Plan (EITA). Many individuals from around campus have provided vital input to support this plan. Jonathan Brennan and DeAnne Martocci are co-EITA officers for the college, who will annually submit a plan to inform SUNY of updates to our systems and services concerning college-wide electronic accessibility.
To this end, we are happy to announce the addition of the Accessibility Ribbon. You will see this new ribbon when you use the web version or the Mac/PC versions of common Microsoft products including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio.
This ribbon will provide accessibility tools in one easy location to help you to create accessible documents. You may have questions regarding how to use these tools. Through SUNY, you have the unique opportunity to sign up for training through Deque University and access self-paced courses to learn how to create accessible content. Additionally, please keep your eyes open for training through the Center for Effective Teaching (CET).
Sign up for Deque University can be found here: Link to Deque University.
Thank you for your continued support of this initiative. Our goal is for HVCC to become the most accessible college in the SUNY system!
DeAnne and Jonathan
