Sandra Hutchison, an adjunct instructor in the English, Foreign LanguagesĀ and English as a Second Language Department and an indie women’s fiction novelist, will be the next presenter in the Sand Lake Center for the Arts’ Local Author Series on Thursday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. (Suggested donation is $5.)

Sandra will talk about her writing career and about some of the opportunities and challenges in writing and publishing fiction right now, whether independently, traditionally, or a combination of the two.
Attendees also will hear a sneak peek of her next book. It’s a slight departure into romantic comedy that plays off Hutchinson’s favorite novel, Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. It dramatizes the plight of adjunct professors by moving Austen’s romance into a small contemporary liberal arts college in upstate New York at great risk of going bankrupt.
