Confidential Shredding vs. Recycling

To all faculty & staff:

We have a growing problem with employees throwing recyclable paper materials into confidential shredding bins. This adds extra wear and tear on the college’s shredding equipment, necessitates extra sorting of materials to be shredded or not shredded, and creates a backlog of shredding.

If everyone could please pay attention to whether you are throwing unwanted materials in a recycling bin or a confidential shredding bin, it would be a big help.

Here are some general tips.

PLEASE DON’T
– put junk mail and catalogs in confidential shredding bins.
– put bound materials into bins without separating them first.
– put folders, paper clips or binder clips into blue bins.
– put trash in any blue bins whatsoever.

Thank you for your cooperation!
