Capital EAP webinars and support group

 

Capital EAP is offering a new support group and has also added new webinars to its workshop events. Remember that these webinars are free for all EAP benefit members to attend, and run just under an hour long.

Online Capital EAP Teen COVID-19 Support Group
Description: COVID has been difficult on everyone, but teens and pre-teens are especially struggling right now. This group will provide a safe and confidential place for teens to come together and talk about how they’ve been doing during COVID. The group will also address various mental health and life skills topics such as anxiety, depression, time management skills, mindfulness skills and general coping. This group is free to all Capital EAP members and their children ages 12-17.

Platform: Zoom — link provided at registration
Time: Wednesdays, 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Duration: March 10- April 14

Separate to the above EAP exclusive group, Capital Counseling is also hosting an insurance-reimbursable Virtual Teen COVID-19 Support Group for friends or family who are not EAP members. Individuals can call (518) 462-6532 if they are interested in learning more about this separate group.

Upcoming Free Webinars

Increasing Utilization with Amanda
Wednesday, Feb. 24 at noon
This training is designed to help companies increase their EAP utilization. Individuals will learn about their EAP benefits, and how to speak to their employees about the value of the benefits. Individuals will also learn about effective ways to market EAP benefits to their employees, how to utilize your account manager and the importance of scheduling orientations and having EAP present at benefits fairs. Lastly, this training will have a strong focus on how to talk to employees about EAP in a way that doesn’t seem punitive or stigmatizing. By the end of this training, individuals will have developed tools on ways to increase their agencies EAP utilization, therefore reducing employee turnover and increasing productivity.

Compassion Fatigue: Healing the Helper with Ashley
Wednesday, March 3 at noon
In this training, participants will learn the effects of compassion fatigue on one’s mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. Individuals will be provided preventive measures as well as solutions to assist in overcoming compassion fatigue. This training will be ideal for individuals working in the medical or mental health field, as well as for those providing care to the elderly, developmentally disabled or anyone interested in learning more about nurturing oneself while caring for others.

Suicide Awareness & Prevention with Marion
Thursday, March 11 at noon
This class will cover the basic principles of suicide risk, including who is at risk and how to identify signs of suicidality. Participants will also develop communication strategies to engage someone who may be at risk and where to go for help. For those interested in getting more involved in suicide prevention efforts, a list of community and national resources will be provided.

Successful Communication in the Workplace with Jami
Wednesday, March 24 at noon
This training will heighten awareness of the ways we communicate with our co-workers. Participants will identify communication strategies to overcome resistance and conflict. Also included will be an overview of common communication pitfalls, the use of nonverbal skills for greater impact, assertiveness skills, and specific techniques for managing difficult interactions.
