Deque University (Deque U) provides courses and resources on accessibility practices that can be applied in the classroom, in the office, and in daily life.
Since the long list of course offerings can be overwhelming at first glance, the Center for Access and Assistive Technology (CAAT) recommends starting with the curriculum titled: Customer Service for People with Disabilities 1.0. The four-part series will give you an overview of different types of disabilities and the benefits afforded to all individuals when good accessibility practices are utilized.
For anyone that creates and shares digital documents over the web, the CAAT recommends the course titled: Basic Web and Document Accessibility for Content Contributors. For a more in-depth understanding, the curriculum titled: Document Accessibility Curriculum 1.2 is another great series that can teach even an expert computer user a few tricks.
Visit the CAAT website to sign up for Deque U to get started.
These courses are only available through May 2021.
If you have questions about Deque University, please contact the CAAT office at caat@hvcc.edu or (518) 629-7154.
