Hudson Valley’s Updated Mission, Vision, Goals and Objectives!

Hudson Valley has completed its latest review and updating of the college’s Mission, Vision,  Goals and Objectives! This review process occurs every five or six years by the Academic Senate Planning Committee so that the college ensures that the Mission, Vision, Goals and Objectives address both current and future needs of students and are aligned with the Strategic Plan as we continue to move “Future Forward.”

The Planning Committee began the process in 2018, but put the review on hold when President Ramsammy joined the campus community and the college began the development of a new Strategic Plan. To ensure that the Goals and Objectives aligned with the new Strategic Plan, the Strategic Plan Steering Committee was formed in fall 2018, made up of representatives from across the college and all members of the Planning Committee.

The 2019-2024 Strategic Plan, Mission, Vision, and newly added Core Values were approved in 2019 by the Planning Committee, Academic Senate, and the college’s Board of Trustees. The Planning Committee resumed the review and revision process of the Goals and Objectives in spring 2020, and in September 2020 the Planning Committee approved the new Goals and Objectives.

In October 2020, the Planning Committee held two Open Forums to provide opportunities for the campus community to participate fully in the process and offer feedback, suggestions, and any concerns they may have had. After incorporating the feedback from the campus community into the Goals and Objectives, the Planning Committee voted again to approve the updated revisions and sent them forward to the Academic Senate, where they received approval in October. The college’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve the updated Goals and Objectives at their February 2021 meeting.

The Planning Committee would like to thank the campus community for its valuable input in this process. It is truly appreciated, and your feedback enriched and strengthened the college’s Mission, Vision,  Core Values, Goals and Objectives.

Hudson Valley’s updated Mission, Vision, Core Values, Goals and Objectives are provided below.

We celebrate our achievements and contributions to the greater society.

ACCESSIBILITY: Accessibility to high-quality education is vital to the growth and prosperity of the local, national and international communities. Hudson Valley provides educational access to a diverse community of traditional and non-traditional learners in an environment that fosters lifelong learning and freedom of inquiry and expression.

DIVERSITY: Each individual must be able to work and learn in an atmosphere of respect, dignity and acceptance. Our commitment to diversity requires each of us to continuously ensure that our interactions are respectful, protect free speech and inspire academic freedom. Hudson Valley values equity, inclusion, and dignity for all. We recognize that our differences make us stronger. We take action when we observe someone being treated unfairly or in a demeaning manner.

SERVICE: Meaningful service to students is at the center of life at Hudson Valley, as is service by students, staff and faculty to our greater community.
