College Success Referral System

With mid-semester upon us, faculty are reminded to utilize the College Success Referral System to identify students who may be struggling in class. Depending on the type of referral selected, students will receive an automated email as soon as the referral is submitted and a follow-up phone call within 1 to 2 business days from the Office of Student Outreach Services and Retention, Center for Academic Engagement, or their Academic Advising Office. The e-mail will provide your contact information and a list of resources available to assist. Directions for using the system can be found here.

A couple of notes and reminders:

1) If you feel a student needs a referral for a non-emergent mental health issue, please select “Request for non-emergency consult re: disruptive and/or concerning behavior.”  This will allow the Office of Student Outreach Services and Retention to provide appropriate outreach.

2) Please use the notes section to document anything you would like the Academic Advisors and/or Office of Student Outreach Services and Retention to know. Please be as thorough as possible. Students do not see these notes.

3) Lastly, once outreach is made to the student, the Office of Student Outreach Services and Retention will update your notes letting you know the outcome of the outreach. You will be able to view these comments in your alert history by clicking the ‘i’ to the left of the student’s name.

One-on-one assistance (via zoom) also is available if necessary. Send me an email (j.eaton@hvcc.edu)and we can set up a time. You can also reach out to Matthew Howe at m.howe@hvcc.edu or Gail Barber at g.barber@hvcc.edu from the Office of Student Outreach Services and Retention.

Thank you for your continued support.
