The CET is now the CPE (Center for Professional Excellence)

As announced by Vice President Judy DiLorenzo at Academic Senate meeting on March 22, the Center for Effective Teaching will be transitioning to the Center for Professional Excellence (CPE) in the coming weeks. The change will allow us to collaborate more efficiently with other departments on campus to streamline the Professional Development opportunities for all employees of Hudson Valley Community College. In doing so, the CPE will become the hub of all professional development and training provided to the college’s faculty and staff.

The mission of the Center for Professional Excellence (CPE) is to support professional development opportunities for faculty and staff that are meaningful and impact our work with a diverse student population. The center will inspire a culture of excellence in all Hudson Valley Community College employees.

By partnering with both on-campus and off-campus resources, we strive to consistently provide relevant and effective opportunities for HVCC employees. We encourage all faculty and staff to take advantage of the resources and training provided by the CPE.

Our Goals

  • Provide opportunities and resources for faculty and staff to learn about technology, pedagogy, instructional resources, and best practices to enhance the effectiveness of teaching, learning and leadership at Hudson Valley Community College
  • Promote collaboration across campus by facilitating the sharing of best practices and new ideas
  • To mentor and support new and returning faculty, both full- and part-time
  • Foster innovation and creativity for teaching and working in higher education

More information will be announced in the coming weeks and months. In the meantime, feel free to reach out to either Tara Farley-Wyckoff (t.farleywyckoff@hvcc.edu), or Jen Eaton (j.eaton@hvcc.edu).
