Dear colleagues:
As you may know, both Louis Coplin, vice president for Student Affairs, and Penny Hill, vice president for Community, Professional and Workforce Development, will retire next month after many years of service to the college. Please be aware of the following interim leadership appointments taking effect on Saturday, Feb. 24.
Ian LaChance will serve as interim vice president for Student Affairs, overseeing enrollment and student development offices, as well as Student Activities, Athletics, the Faculty Student Association and judicial matters. He has worked at the college since 2005, currently in the role of assistant vice president for Student Affairs.
Also effective Feb. 24, Dr. Denise Fernandez-Pallozzi will act as the interim vice president for Community, Professional and Workforce Development, leading non-credit instruction and related community partnerships, including the Aeronautical Technology Institute at the Albany International Airport. She has served as executive director of the Capital District Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) since April 2022.
Dr. Fernandez-Pallozzi will work alongside Vice President Hill from Feb. 12 to 23 for a transition period. As she moves into the interim vice president role, Alton Campbell will become the interim executive director of the EOC. He has served as the coordinator of Instructional Services for the center since 2022.
Thank you for your support as this transition takes place. In addition, please join me for a retirement send off for Louis and Penny, and Suzanne Kalkbrenner as well, on Friday, Feb. 23, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the President’s Innovation Hall, Siek Campus Center 204. RSVP online by Feb. 20, at www.hvcc.edu/forms/retirement-celebration.html.
