Black History Month Movie Series continues on Thursday, Feb. 8

The Black History Month Movie Series, presented by Student Activities, continues!

The free showings will be 2 to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays in the Siek Campus Center, room 202.

Thursday, Feb. 8 — To Kill A Mockingbird

Atticus Finch, a widowed lawyer in Depression-era Alabama, defends a Black man against an undeserved rape charge, and tries to educate his young children against prejudice.

Thursday, Feb. 15 — The Help

An aspiring author during the civil rights movement of the 1960s decides to write a book detailing the African American maids’ points of view on the white families that employ them, and depicting the hardships the maids endure on a daily basis.

Thursday, Feb .22 — Black Panther

T’Challa, heir to the hidden but advanced kingdom of Wakanda, must step forward to lead his people into a new future and confront a challenger from his country’s past.

Thursday, Feb. 29 — The Color Purple

A black Southern woman struggles to find her identity after suffering abuse from her father and others over four decades.
