Accidents happen; you are going to knock over and break your favorite coffee mug, picture frame or vase. Your next thought should be what do I do with the broken glass.
Environmental Health & Safety asks that you find a box large enough to hold the biggest piece and carefully place all of the pieces in the box. Tape the box closed and then write “Broken Glass” on the box. The box can then be placed in the trash or next to the trash. It would be helpful if you could alert the custodians know with a quick email to the Supervisor Dom Herald (d.herald@hvcc.edu) or speak to the custodian in your area.
Please note these exceptions to the instructions above:
- If the broken object is a very large, please reach out to Physical Plant or EHS. We do not want you to get cut!
- If you break a light bulb, please contact Physical Plant immediately!
In the event you do get cut, we ask you go to Health Services for medical attention and to fill out an injury report. If this happens when Health Services is closed, please contact Public Safety.
