At a press event on April 19 at Grants Cottage in Wilton, the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation announced that the site now will get all its power from an array of solar panels. The partnership project with the state’s Energy Research and Development Authority makes this historic site the first state parks facility to go entirely off the grid.
President Roger Ramsammy and Regina LaGatta, executive director of External & Government Relations, attended Monday’s event in recognition of the college’s role in the project. Hudson Valley Community College assisted in training state parks staff to install the solar panels.
The Glens Falls Post Star and The Schenectady Gazette reported on the event.
