Narcan Training

Narcan is a lifesaving treatment that rapidly reverses an opioid overdose. It can be quickly and easily administered by anyone, with no effect on someone who does not have opioids in their system.

Health Services  is able to coordinate and facilitate Narcan training together with the Rensselaer County Health Department.

If you or anyone in your department would like to receive this 30-minute training and a free Narcan kit, please contact Clinical Coordinator Julie Warren at (518) 629-7176 or j.warren@hvcc.edu.

What Does Narcan Do? Reverses the effects of sedation and respiratory depression, causes sudden withdrawal or unpleasant feelings, wakes the person in 3-5 minutes, effective for 30 to 90 minutes, and safe even if the person is not actually having an overdose.
