Associate Professor Tara Fracalossi and Professor Thomas Lail, faculty members in the Department of Fine Arts, Theatre Arts and Digital Media, recently gave gallery talks at the Arts Center of the Capital Region in downtown Troy.
Both artists discussed their respective works in “More Than a Sketchbook” that remains on view through June 26 at the Arts Center. Echo Goff and Christopher Strom, both Fine Arts alumni, also have work in the exhibit and participated in the evening of artist talks.
During the winter of 2020-21, artists were provided sketchbooks to complete during the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. “Artists use sketchbooks in many different ways, all are personal to each artist,” according to Belina Colón, curator at The Arts Center. “Viewers are encouraged to look through the daily sketches of what would become one of many finished pieces presented on our gallery walls.” (Colón is an alumna of Hudson Valley Community College’s former Gallery Management Program.)
The Arts Center is located at 265 River St. in Troy. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. All exhibitions are free and open to the public.
