On Saturday, April 17, the eighth Annual Girls in STEM conference took place under sponsorship by Hudson Valley Community College’s offices of Workforce Development and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and by the Center for Economic Growth. The conference offered more than 15 virtual STEM-based workshops for students in 4th through 8th grades.
The event featured the dynamic keynote speaker Danni Washington, TV host and science communicator.
Through stories and video, Danni shared her journey from living near the Atlantic Ocean, getting a degree in Marine Science and Biology, and becoming the first African American woman to host her own science television series, Xploration Nature Knows Best.
The keynote session was co-moderated by Taunya Hannibal-Williams, community outreach specialist at Hudson Valley, Kayla Miller, owner of STEM Kings and Queens, and a special youth moderator who posed her own questions as well.
If you missed the live stream, you now can watch the recording on the Office of Diversity and Inclusion’s webpage — Diversity, Equity and Inclusion | HVCC.
