New phones coming soon to a desk near you!

 

Greetings colleagues,

The college is undergoing a transition to Microsoft Teams Voice to replace the aging Avaya phone system. This transition will provide greater opportunities for collaboration, chat, and bring a modern enterprise phone system to our campus. Our deployment will begin in mid-July and will come to a close in mid-August.

During this time, ITS will be deploying new desktop phones and providing training in both a hands-on and virtual environment.

The Yealink phone, as pictured above, will be deployed to all desks and rooms currently equipped with an HVCC phone. With this advanced phone, users can join Teams meetings, see calendars, search for people, and make calls with ease. Should the situation arise where we need to go remote, these phones will work on WiFi in our homes to enable a more seamless transition! You’ll also be able to access your extension and your team using the MS Teams app, which is available on all major desktop and mobile platforms.

We are working on packaging and deploying a comprehensive training and adoption campaign for all users. In the coming weeks, you will receive numerous communications to answer all your questions regarding this transition.
