SOWI is an award-winning program that encourages students from underrepresented populations, including girls and those who identify as female, to engage in science, technology, engineering and math. SOWI workshops serve two age groups: SOWI STEM is Elementary, an earth science based summer camp geared toward students entering 4th and 5th grades, and SOWI Robotics, a year-round workshop series aimed at grades 6 through 12 that focuses on learning computer languages such as Python and Java, coding and robotics. The initiative launched a robotics team, SOWI ProCoders, who placed 14th in an international competition held in April 2021.
