Hello colleagues,
Hudson Valley Community College strives to provide a safe environment for all who enter our campus. As we begin a new semester bringing more staff and students back to campus, it is important to keep in mind that there are some simple steps you can take to keep yourself safe and avoid situations that can potentially ruin an otherwise pleasant day.
Lock Your Doors
Theft is one of the most avoidable situations. Keeping the doors to your car locked can deter thieves. The same applies in an office setting. If you are unable to lock your office door, keep personal items of value out of sight.
Safety Orientation and Training
As a condition of employment, all college employees are required to complete annual safety training. Throughout the school year additional training/informational items are made available. Take the opportunity to participate in these important presentations.
Building Evacuation Routes
The college conducts fire safety drills every semester. Building evacuation routes are posted throughout every campus building. Become familiar with the evacuation route in your building.
Be Aware of Your Surroundings
Know where the college’s emergency phones (blue light phones) are located. Sign up for the college’s alert system and add the college’s Office of Public Safety phone number — (518) 629-7210 — to your cell phone contact information.
Protect Yourself
If you work in an area that requires the use of personal protective equipment, keep yourself safe and work safely.

Stay well!
