I-Lot Bird Nest

Dear HVCC Community,

As you may have noticed a portion of the I-Lot parking lot has been barricaded off.  A ground nesting bird, a killdeer (Charadrius vociferus), has establish a nest in the parking lot on one of the islands.  We have barricaded of that island and a number of spaces around it for the protection of the nest.  The killdeer’s eggs incubate for 22 to 28 days so will be only be inconvenienced for a short time.  Please be aware that when the eggs hatch the young birds will be running around for a few days.  If you seem them be aware that the mother bird is nearby.  In the meantime please be respectful of the nest and keep your distance.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
