JMT Community Field Day at HVCC South

The EOC’s Assistant Coordinator of Student Services Keith Danzy kicked off a weekend full of events at the HVCC South Campus. The event was in honor of Jamel M. Tarver, a well known local athletic star. The festivities began with a neighborhood cookout on Friday, followed by a gala. Saturday offered all-star basketball tournaments and a voter registration drive held at the park behind HVCC South. Several community partners participated including SNUG, Albany Community Land Trust, Albany Branch NAACP, The Red Book Shelf, and Trinity Alliance.  On Sunday, there was a honoring ceremony recognizing local basketball legends who are still living from the 1970s to the 2000s by offering them a flower for the contributions they have made to impact local athletes throughout the area.
