This week in athletics

Hudson Valley athletics is searching for student workers ($12.50/hr) to work our home games. Interested students please visit the athletics department in MCD 219 to sign up!

Cross Country: The men’s and women’s cross country programs competed in one of the longest running invitationals, the 25th annual James Earley Invitational, hosted by Westfield State University in Westfield, Mass.

The men’s team started the day off early at 10:30 a.m. with hundreds of individuals competing in the annual invitational. The Vikings top runner was Shazim Permaul, placed 12th overall with an official time of 26:14.

The women’s team closed out the day with Olivia Skylstad earning the top-finish for the Vikings. Skylstad placed 90th overall, in a field with nearly 200 individual runners, and posted an official time of 21:42.

Football:  The Vikings football team was off this weekend and will be on the road on Sunday, Oct. 17 when they take on Sussex at 1 p.m.

Men’s Soccer: The men’s soccer team dropped its only game this week and is set to take on Dutchess (Wednesday, Oct. 13) and then close out the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 16 when they travel to take on Jefferson at 3 p.m.

Women’s Soccer: The women’s team finished the week with a 2-0 record, defeated Onondaga (4-0) and Corning (5-2) as they look to solidify a No. 8 seed in the NJCAA Region 3 postseason with a potential home playoff game following weekend.

Women’s Tennis: The women’s tennis program visits Herkimer Monday, Oct. 11, in the opening rounds of the NJCAA Region 3 championships. The individual winners will then travel to take on the top-seed Mohawk Valley for an opportunity to qualify for the NJCAA National Tournament.

Women’s Volleyball: The Hudson Valley Community College women’s volleyball team dropped a tough match on Sunday to Herkimer (3-0). They return to action on Tuesday, when they travel to take on Fulton-Montgomery before coming home for their final home match on Thursday, Oct. 14 vs. Orange.
