On Saturday, Sept. 21, members of the Honors College had a great experience volunteering at the third Annual Reverse Rett Fall Festival. The spectacular event was held at the Speigletown Fire House with a great selection of delectable food, fun games, lively band and extraordinary raffle. Students volunteered at various activities throughout the day, including arts and crafts, dunk booth, bounce slide, fossil dig pile, and food stations.
The festival is a fun-filled day with a very important cause to help raise money for Rett Syndrome research. All sponsorships and donations go directly to the Rett Syndrome Research Trust, a nonprofit organization focused on finding a cure for Rett Syndrome. Rett Syndrome is a severe neurological disorder that impacts all facets of life for children and adults with the syndrome. Symptoms may include loss of speech, trouble with balance and motor coordination, irritability and crying, and disrupted sleep patterns. The Rett Syndrome Research Trust continues its exceptional work to fund gene therapy programs and diligently strive to find a cure.

HVCC had a great presence at the festival! The students were delighted to see Victor the Viking greeting people and even take a few shot at the dunk tank. A special shout-out to the HVCC baseball team for doing a terrific job directing traffic at the event. Thank you to Casey Ryan, assistant professor of Criminal Justice, for inviting the Honors College students to participate in the event.
