The 2021 eSports season has officially started as the Vikings are competing in eight different games this season with record numbers of participants, doubling from the Spring 2021 semester, which saw the Vikings claim the NJCAAe National Championship in Call of Duty: Duos.
Monday
Call of Duty — Cold War: The Vikings lost, 3-0, to Trinidad State last week and are scheduled to take on Navarro College this week.
Rocket League: The Vikings have two teams competing this semester in the Rocket League events.
—Rocket League (Team One): Lost by forfeit last week to Utah State. This week, they are scheduled to play Western Technical College.
—Rocket League (Team Green): Lost, 3-0, to Northwestern Michigan. This week, they take on Hawkeye Community College.
Wednesday
Super Smash Bros: This is the most popular game among the Vikings eSports program. We have eight individuals competing weekly for a chance to clinch a playoff berth following the 8-week season.
–Tylar M.: Lost by forfeit to Montgomery County.
–Christian M.: Had a bye week. Did not compete.
–Matthew P.: WON, 3-0, over Iowa Central.
–Shane T.: Lost, 3-0, to Catawba Valley.
–William M.: Lost by forfeit to Southwest Wisconsin Technical.
–Benny W.: Had a bye week. Did not compete.
Hearthstone: We have two students participating in Hearthstone this semester, including Ligori K., who finished the spring 2021 semester as the nation’s top-ranked Hearthstone player.
–Ligori K.: Ligori WON, 3-0, over Ocean County. Scheduled to play Shelton State this week.
–Tylar M.: Lost by forfeit to Borough of Manhattan. This week, he will play the Northwest Trappers.
Thursday
Overwatch: The Vikings WON, 3-0, over Finger Lakes last week. They are scheduled to take on Crowder College this week.
Call of Duty: Gun Fight: There are two teams participating for the Vikings.
—HVCC Team 1: The Vikings team lost by forfeit to Herkimer College. Team 1 is on a bye week this week.
—HVCC Team 2: The team also lost by forfeit to Southwest Wisconsin Technical. Team 2 will play Herkimer College this week.
Friday
Valorant: The Vikings lost by forfeit to Monroe Community College. This week, they are scheduled to play Mott Community College.
