When Kaityln Weise was in middle school she took a class trip to the Build a Bear store to make special stuffed animals with her classmates. All of the adorable bears they made that day were generously donated to the NICU babies at Albany Medical Center. Years later Kaitlyn, now an HVCC Honors College student studying Psychology, is working on a service project to help educate people about the Ronald McDonald House of the Capital Region and their mission, and is working to collect donations of new stuffed animals for the children. Donations of new stuffed animals can be dropped off at AMZ 314 during the week of 10/21 – 10/25.
The primary mission of this exceptional organization is to provide a temporary home away from home for families, and work to promote healing and emotional support for both the family and child in need. Stuffed animals can offer the child a sense of security and companionship throughout their time in the hospital while going through treatments. Giving a stuffed animal may seem like such a small act, but it can have such a huge impact on these children while they navigate this tough time. The Ronald McDonald House has partnered with Albany Med, so donations will go to both the Ronald McDonald House and the Albany Med NICU. Please join Kaitlyn by helping to make a difference in these children’s lives.
