Fine Arts faculty members part of exhibit opening Nov. 13 in Amsterdam, NY

Work by Associate Professor Tara Fracalossi and Professor Thomas Lail, faculty members in the Department of Fine Arts, Theatre Arts & Digital Media, is included in the collaborative project “A Portrait of Barbara Ess,” opening Saturday, Nov. 13 at the Walter Elwood Museum in Amsterdam. The opening hours are 2 to 8 p.m.

Organized by Project Art Distribution (P.A.D.) and F Magazine, the project is a memorial for Barbara Ess and included in P.A.D.’s exhibition “In with the Old” in the contemporary wing of the Walter Elwood Museum. An American photographer known for her large-scale pinhole camera works and post-punk music, Ess died in March 2021 at the age of 76. The college’s Teaching Gallery presented a survey exhibition of Ess’s photographic work in 2011 and one of her works is included in “What We Looked At,” the current Teaching Gallery exhibit on view through Dec. 3.

“A Portrait of Barbara Ess” will remain on view through Feb. 27, 2022. The Walter Elwood Museum, located in the Rao Center at 100 Church St. in Amsterdam, is open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays; admission is free but donations are appreciated.
