Cutting-edge robotics class to be offered in Spring 2022

Robots are in more spheres of human life than ever before
and the study of robotics is catching on across mechanical engineering,
electrical engineering, and computer science departments.

Hudson Valley Community College’s Computer Science Department is giving students a chance to learn about robotics by offering a new and innovative course called Introduction to Robotics (CISS-180). This 4-credit course will be offered ONLY during the Spring 2022 semester.

CISS 180 is designed to provide an amazing journey for robot and drone enthusiasts, offering hands-on learning experiences, opportunities to perform original research, and the chance for students to prepare for in-demand and emerging careers in robotics.

In this project-based learning course, students will have the opportunity to analyze, design, and develop their technical solutions using either Java or Python programming language. Students will present their project to our cohort students and be immersed in a new age of Artificial Intelligence-powered conversational experiences in a collaborative learning environment.

Any student who enrolls in this unique course will stay abreast of this fundamental, cutting-edge, interdisciplinary field, learning about the hands-on process of turning theory and algorithms into functional systems that are robust enough to be deployed in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and NAO humanoid social robots that functional under real-world conditions in collaboration with humans.

Registration is open for the 4-credit CISS-180: Introduction to Robotics!
