Nominations are now being accepted for the Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. This is a great opportunity to recognize our outstanding students!
What it is:
The SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence (CASE) is an award that acknowledges students’ outstanding achievements. While there hasn’t been a minimum GPA requirement in a few years, candidates are expected to have demonstrated exceptional academic performance. Eligibility is based on when you will graduate. To be eligible, for an award in the spring semester of 2025, a student must graduate between June 2024 and May 2025.
Who may be nominated:
We are accepting nominations of students who have best demonstrated the integration of SUNY excellence within many aspects of their lives. This must include three of the following areas: academics, leadership, campus involvement, community service, or the arts (creative or performing). The achievements and accomplishments should reflect why you are one of the top outstanding students SUNY-wide in any given area. Examples of achievements and accomplishments to consider may include, but are not limited to, athletics, advocacy, military service, student government, teaching and service positions, involvement in clubs and organizations, volunteer work, and research experience.
Achievements and accomplishments must have been attained during the timeframe of your current enrolment at HVCC. Awards or recognition from previous colleges, high school, or experiences before the you were enrolled at HVCC will not be considered. Nominated students with measurable, long-term accomplishments and achievements will be measured (scored) at a higher level than other achievements. Students’ achievements that affect the greater campus community and/or a large number of students and/or community members will be valued higher than other achievements.
Who Nominates:
Students can nominate themselves. Campus officials, staff, and faculty can nominate students to the SUNY CASE Selection Committee to be considered for the award. Please note that having a lot of nominations does not increase a student’s chances of being selected for the award.
