Colorado wildfire destroys HVCC graduate’s home

Sandra Thomas Comenole, HVCC graduate and mother of four, lost her home and all her belongings in the Colorado wildfire on Dec. 30. She and her children barely had time to evacuate before the flames engulfed their home. Two of her children had to leave with no shoes or coats.

Sandra graduated with a Business Administration degree in 2015 and completed her Master’s degree in Economics at RPI in 2019. She relocated with her young family to Boulder, CO to pursue her dream job after graduating. Sandra was an integral part of the campus community while she was a student. She was active in Student Senate, served as president of the Entrepreneur’s Club, and was on the executive committee for several other campus clubs. In addition, she volunteered to work with students long after she graduated and organized a joint workshop for both RPI and HVCC. Sandra did all of this while raising four young children.

WNYT recently ran a news story on Sandra.

If you would like to help Sandra and her family, her sister set up a Gofundme page for donations.
