The Center for Access and Assistive Technology (CAAT) invites you to join the 65 faculty and staff that have already enrolled in Deque University. Deque University offers free, self-paced courses on digital accessibility and inclusive practices. If you are not sure what Deque U can offer, the following document DU Course Recommendations by Role can provide some direction for your studies. The Center for Professional Excellence (CPE) announced in September that they will offer certificate credit for the following Deque U courses:
- Customer Service for People with Disabilities 1.0 — The four-part series will give you an overview of different types of disabilities and the benefits afforded to all individuals when good accessibility practices are utilized. Complete all four parts and earn one hour toward Leadership: Interpersonal and Intrapersonal Effectiveness.
- Document Accessibility Curriculum 1.2 — This is a 10-part series that is great for anyone who creates and shares digital documents over the web. Complete all 10 parts and earn two hours toward either Leadership: Administration and Management OR Teaching and Learning: Integrating Instructional Technology OR Technology in the Classroom and Beyond: Software Programs.
Visit the CAAT website to sign up for Deque U. If you have questions about getting started, please contact the CAAT office at caat@hvcc.edu or (518) 629-7154. If you have questions about CPE credit, please contact the CPE at cpe@hvcc.edu.
