NJCAA BASKETBALL: Long sets program record for coaching wins at HVCC with victory over SUNY Broome

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — The Hudson Valley Community College men’s basketball team defeated SUNY Broome in their final game before the new year, 90-75, on the road.

With the win, 12-year head coach Mike Long became the all-time leader for most wins in program history at HVCC, passing Vince Medici, who had 166 from 1995-2004. Overall, Long, who previously served as head coach at Russell Sage and Saint Rose, now has 565 wins in 38 years on the sideline.

“I feel very fortunate to have been able to do what I love to do for as long as I have,” Long wrote, via email, to The Record, on Monday afternoon. “Also, I am very grateful that HVCC has afforded me the opportunity to do it at this point of my life. These milestones are a result of this and having a number of great people to help me out along the way.”
