Effective with the Fall 2025 enrollment cycle, please be advised that, following a joint decision by Student and Academic Affairs, students who are not waived from placement testing must complete a placement test prior to advisement and registration. This practice aligns with protocols outlined in the College Catalog and follows the sequence of the Enrollment Checklist. Students are also encouraged to complete New Student Orientation prior to advisement and course selection.
This decision is based on analysis of data and consultation with the academic departments. Our aim is to provide clear guidance for students as they prepare for advisement and course selection. Students can find the enrollment steps in their WIReD account under the enrollment step checklist. All students, including new, transfer, returning, and part-time, who do not meet waiver criteria are required to take a placement test before advisement and scheduling.
The placement test offers an alternative for students who cannot take the test in-person. Students requiring assistance with remote testing options should contact the Placement Testing Office by calling 518-629-7255 or emailing testing@hvcc.edu.
Should there be any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Placement Testing Office at 518-629-7255 or testing@hvcc.edu.
