Learning Like a Leader
The first session in the HVCC Leadership series is intended to introduce students to themselves as learners. Instead of looking at learning in a traditional “passive” activity, we will be investigating and testing active and engaging learning processes such as “scaffolded learning,” the “Socratic method” and “Cognitive development.”
Drawing from modern psychological learning theories such as Constructivism, Humanism and others, we will explore what it means to “learn” as opposed to “remembering.” Students will take away some new techniques to use in the classroom and in their daily lives. Students are strongly encouraged to actively participate and ask questions.
