The Hudson Valley Community College men’s and women’s cross-country team competed in the SUNY Cobleskill Invitational on Saturday. The men tied for fifth-place with Union College out of 17 teams. The women didn’t compete as a team.
The top male runner was Eric Young (Shaker, Latham) who came in fourteenth out of 167 runners with a time of 29:00 in the 5.2 mile race. Devon Sedgewick (Shaker, Latham) placed twenty-sixth (30:04) and Adam Coolong (Saratoga Springs, Saratoga) came in thirty-eighth (30:35).
The women’s race was a 5K race and had 129 participants. Impressive performaces were turned in by Amanda Slyer (Averill Park, Troy) (21:24) and Nicole Dootz (Bethlehem, Feura Bush) (23:00) who came in fortieth and sixty-fifth, respectively.
Both the men and women will run next Saturday, Sept. 18 in the Bard College Invitational.
