This week in athletics:
Men’s Basketball: The men’s basketball team finished off the regular season winning 10-of 11 games and earned the No. 4 seed in the NJCAA Region 3 tournament. They will host No. 5 Corning on Tuesday, February 22 at 6 p.m. in the McDonough Sports Complex.
Women’s Basketball: The women’s basketball team finished off the regular season and earned the No. 8 seed in the NJCAA Region 3 tournament and hosted No. 9 Adirondack over the weekend. They Vikings defeated Adirondack, 57-40, and advances to the quarterfinal round to take on top-seed Onondaga in Syracuse on Tuesday, February 22 at 5 p.m.
Men’s and Women’s Bowling: The bowling team had a great showing with a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA Region 3 Championship, hosted by Mohawk Valley, on Saturday morning in Utica, NY. Parker Brown led the Vikings with a grand total score of 1,746 in the eight games bowled. Brown was named to the All-Region team with his third-place finish in the All-Events standings. Willis Bickford joined Brown to win the men’s doubles with a final scored of 1,781. They defeated Erie’s top duo by 78 pins. Brown also finished 4th in singles with a score of 859.
Baseball: The Hudson Valley Community College baseball program was in action for the first time in 1,015 days as they traveled south to take on Anne Arundel for a doubleheader in Arnold, MD. The Vikings were defeated in both games, 10-7 and 9-7, respectively.
