The Student Development Unit, part of the Student Affairs Division, is pleased to announce that Stephen Onley has been promoted to Director of Military and Veteran Success. This promotion signals the college’s ongoing commitment to its military-affiliated students, veterans, and active military students.
Stephen graduated from Averill Park High School and served seven proud years in the US Army, including a 2009 deployment to Afghanistan with the 82nd Airborne Division.
After returning to New York, Stephen came full circle to HVCC as a student, focusing on math and science before completing his bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Indiana University. Currently, he is pursuing a master’s degree in Philosophy & Education at Teachers College, Columbia University.
For the past 2.5 years, Stephen has served the Hudson Valley community as a veteran peer mentor and as assistant director of the Veterans Resource & Outreach Center. In his new role, he is excited to build on these experiences to create even more military-friendly initiatives across campus.
