The New Coal: Plastics and Climate Change
Monday, Feb. 28 from 1 to 1:50 p.m.

Presenter: Alexis Goldsmith, organizing director for Beyond Plastic

Plastic is one of the most challenging threats to climate and environmental justice. The proliferation of cheap and disposable plastic perpetuates the worst impacts of climate change. Every stage of plastic’s lifecycle is deeply entwined with pollution. Plastic is poised to become the “new coal” world-wide, but there are solutions to prevent that outcome. Goldsmith examines this issue and calls for action to end reckless plastic production.
