On March 5, 2025, a group of HVCC students visited SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica, NY. The day started with a comprehensive campus tour to see the Cayan Library & Learning Center, Wildcat Field House, Hilltop Residence Hall, Student Center, Campus Center and the Center for Global Advanced Manufacturing. At SUNY Poly, students have access to high-tech facilities including the Makerspace Lab, Additive Manufacturing Lab, and Digital Prototyping Center. Students can also access various services on campus simply from an app on their phone, including free laundry services and delivery food services. Interestingly, there are even GrubHub robots that deliver food from the dining centers to various locations on campus!
The visit also included an overview of the academic opportunities offered at SUNY Poly, which offers 24 unique undergraduate programs and 39 academic minors. Students can also engage in research through various centers, such as the AI Exploration Center and the Center for Health Innovations and Humanitarian Engineering. SUNY Poly also offers exceptional resources and support, including the Advancing Completion through Engagement (ACE) Program. Through the ACE Program, students get tuition support, textbook assistance, a transportation stipend, personalized advising, career coaching and priority course registration. As part of the SUNY system, HVCC students can seamlessly transfer to SUNY Poly and continue on the path of academic excellence.
