This week, we want to bring you a quick coping technique, the use of imagery. Imagery is a great technique to use when you’re feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed! Imagery allows you to take yourself to a safe place, which can lead to a relaxed state of mind.

The above graphic is an example of what one can think of when using imagery. You can use a winding country road, or a beach on the ocean, or sitting in a deep forest. Whatever that safe place is for you, take time to truly take in the scene.

Utilize all your senses when imagining this safe place that you are constructing. What sorts of things do you see in the forest? What sort of smells do you experience on the ocean? What sounds do you hear on the road? Truly let your mind wander. Learn more about the benefits of this technique here.
