May is Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness month.  Academic stress, anxiety and depression can have a negative impact on faculty, staff, and students.  During the academic year, 10% to 20% of students in college may experience stress, anxiety and depression.  Common stressors in college include greater academic demands, being on your own in a new environment, changes in family relations, change in social life, as well as exposure to new people, ideas, and activities.  Life is full of challenges and we must be mindful of our mental health.  You are encouraged to take five minutes and asked yourself an important question, how am I doing today?  On campus we have a plethora of engaging activities such as yoga, nature walk, outdoor exercise equipment (Hudson Hall), putting on the greens (in front of Guenther), and many others for stress relief.  The counseling Center located in Siek Campus Center is always available for support.
