Baseball: Baseball had a tough week as the team dropped three games to nationally-ranked Herkimer, but ended the week on a high-note when they defeated Jefferson, 6-3, on Sunday. Luis Misla won the game and finished with 13 strike outs in five innings pitched.
Men’s Lacrosse: The men’s lacrosse team earned a hard-fought, 14-7 road win against Sussex Community College on Sunday morning in Newton, NJ. The Vikings jumped out early on Sussex as they started the game with a 6-0 first quarter advantage, following a week off. The rested Vikings used their fresh legs to build out the early lead behind two first quarter goals from Matthew Calicchia. Calicchia finished the game with five goals and one assist to pace the offensive attack.
Softball: The softball team also had a tough week as they faced off with two of the nation’s top-three programs in Herkimer and Corning. The team played well, but ultimately dropped all four games. They have a busy week coming up as they look to get back on track with games against Broome, Mohawk Valley and Onondaga.
Track and Field: The men’s and women’s track and field programs were in action Sunday as they participated in the AIC Yellowjacket Invitational at American International University in Springfield, Mass.
Women’s sprinter, Lia Soares had a meet to remember as she broke the school record in the women’s 100m dash with her seventh-place finish and an official time of 13.34. She broke the 27-year old record set by Violet Malema by .01 seconds (13.34). Soares also placed 12th in the 200m dash with a time of 27.78 seconds.
On the men’s side, Charles Benichoux won the men’s 100m dash for the second consecutive week as he crossed the line with a time of 11.03 seconds. Benichoux also took home the win in the men’s 200m dash with a time of 22.08 seconds.
