PTK Chapter recognized at Catalyst ’22 International Conference

The Alpha Xi Sigma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Hudson Valley Community College was recognized at the International Catalyst Conference held in Denver, CO, April 7-9. More than 1,300 chapters were represented at the conference, making it an amazing opportunity for chapter members, officers, advisors, administrators and alumni to celebrate all that is PTK.

The honor society utilizes the four hallmarks of fellowship, scholarship, and service to promote excellence and growth. During the conference, attendees were inspired by the keynote speakers,  Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, president and CEO of PTK, and Daymond John, presidential ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship (and yes, from Shark Tank!). Dr. Lynn emphasized the importance of caring for students and supporting student-led advocacy efforts. Daymond stressed the significance of setting goals and envisioning oneself there. He even surprised the PTK students in attendance by offering them internships opportunities in his multi-million dollar business enterprise.

The conference ended with a spectacular Hallmark Awards Gala. Special awards were presented to select chapters and members. The Alpha Xi Sigma Chapter was honored with two prestigious awards: The “Distinguished Chapter Member” Award for Dara Blanchette and The “Distinguished College Project” Award. A special thanks to Dennis Kennedy, executive director of Communications and Marketing, for his collaboration with the college project.
